“Todd Webb & Eugène Atget: Senses of Place” at Paris Photo 2026

Returning to Paris Photo for the sixth year as a Partner, MUUS Collection is pleased to present Todd Webb & Eugène Atget: Senses of Place, an exhibition curated by David Campany, Creative Director of the International Center of Photography in New York, on view from November 12–15.

The curation by David Campany celebrates MUUS Collection’s acquisition of the Todd Webb archive in June 2026. Senses of Place brings together the Webb archive with works by Eugène Atget, placing two masters of urban photography in dialogue. Introduced to Atget’s work by Berenice Abbott, Webb found inspiration and a guiding spirit through the French photographer’s vision, at once modernist yet committed to a social description.

“In their curiosity and openness Todd Webb’s photographs have a deep kinship with the work of Atget. It was not so much a case of influence, as affirmation”, said David Campany. “It is always heartening for a photographer to recognise a forebear. Atget offered Webb a license, wide and generous, to push his commitment to photography as both document and social poetry.”

The exhibition features key works by Todd Webb from postwar New York and Paris, and a selection of Eugène Atget’s works presented with the support of Galerie Bruno Tartarin, offering haunting and enigmatic views of the French capital around the turn of the century.

On Wednesday, November 11, David Campany will present a talk at the Grand Palais. MUUS Collection is proud to bring Todd Webb’s work back to Paris for this presentation, as part of its mission to promote understanding, research, and visibility of the archives in its care. As a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition, MUUS Collection has taken steps to ensure that its exhibition at Paris Photo is in line with best environmental practices.

As part of its Paris Photo program, MUUS Collection will also announce the recipient of its inaugural Research Fellowship on November 14, furthering its commitment to research and scholarship around its photography archives.
