For our fifth consecutive year as a Partner, MUUS Collection is thrilled to return to Paris Photo to debut the exhibit Looking Out, Looking In: Lisette Model, Larry Fink, and Rosalind Fox Solomon. Curated by Anne E. Havinga, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Chair of Photography,Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the exhibition brings together the work of pioneering photographer and teacher Lisette Model with that of Larry Fink andRosalind Fox Solomon, two of her students. With themes of empathy, vulnerability, and artistic exchange, Looking Out, Looking In demonstrates how Model's teaching permeated the work of her mentees through her invitation to engage with the theater of society while also exploring the depths of personal experience and emotion.
Anne E. Havinga says: “It is a great honor to be invited by MUUS to organize an exhibition at Paris Photo devoted to the work of Lisette Model, Larry Fink, and Rosalind Fox Solomon. Model, one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century, was a remarkable teacher whose vision profoundly shaped her students – among them Larry Fink and Rosalind Fox Solomon, who each went on to develop their own powerful artistic voices. Together, the images of these photographers embody a striking breadth of vision and humanity. These three artists have long been among my personal favorites, and it is a privilege to bring them together for this occasion.”
MUUS is proud to officially join fellow arts organizations in enlisting with the Gallery Climate Coalition and has taken steps to ensure our presentation at Paris Photo is in line with best environmental practices.
